Microsoft Outlook 2010 for Windows – email, calendar and contacts
Outlook 2010 brings together email accounts, calendar, contacts and tasks in one program. You receive it as a standalone program with a perpetual licence for one Windows PC.
Outlook 2010 is undemanding and offers everything you need for emails, appointments and contacts.
Typical uses
- manage several mailboxes centrally
- plan appointments and organise meetings
- maintain contacts and tasks
- Archiving emails securely
What Outlook 2010 offers
- Conversation view groups related emails together
- Quick Steps for recurring tasks
- Ignore function for annoying discussions
- The ribbon in Outlook too
- Calendar preview in meeting requests
Tips for a tidier mailbox
- Rules: move invoices and newsletters into folders automatically.
- Quick Steps: several steps with one click.
- Categories: colour-code e-mails and appointments by project.
- Delay delivery: send e-mails at a set time.
- Archiving: move old emails into a separate PST file.
Transferring and backing up data
Outlook 2010 stores local mailboxes and archives as PST files. You take them over from another Outlook version using the import function. IMAP and Exchange accounts synchronise their folders directly with the server. For backups, copy the PST files regularly to an external drive.
Outlook 2010 in everyday work
Conversation view shows all replies on a topic in one thread. With Quick Steps you move an email, mark it as done and reply to the sender in a single click.
When is Outlook 2010 on its own worthwhile?
Outlook 2010 as a standalone program is a good fit if a workstation works almost exclusively with Outlook – for example at reception, in dispatch or in customer service. It is also a good addition if other Office programs of the same generation are already installed on a computer and only Outlook is missing.
Standalone program or Office suite?
The standalone program is the most affordable solution if you mainly work with Outlook. If you need more programs later, an Office suite is usually cheaper than several standalone programs.
| Outlook 2010 (this item) | e-mail, calendar, contacts only |
| Office 2010 Home & Business | Outlook plus Word, Excel, PowerPoint |
| Office 2010 Standard | plus Publisher |
You will find more editions under Microsoft Office 2010.
Outlook 2010 or a newer version?
Version 2010 is particularly undemanding and runs smoothly even on older, less powerful computers. If you want the latest features, choose Outlook 2021 or Outlook 2024. The file formats have been the same since Office 2007, so files can be exchanged without any problems.
Buy once instead of subscribing
You pay for Outlook 2010 once and use it permanently – with no contract term, no notice period and no forced cloud use. You save your files as usual locally, on your network or with a cloud provider of your choice.
