Office 2024 Professional Plus – account-bound for Windows

The account-bound edition of Office 2024 Professional Plus offers the widest range of features in the Office 2024 series: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Access. The licence is permanently bound to your Microsoft account when it is redeemed. This means the download is always available from Microsoft and you can set Office up again within minutes after changing computers.

What does “account-bound” mean?

With this edition, the licence is permanently linked to your Microsoft account when it is redeemed. This has practical advantages:

• The licence is stored in your account and is not lost, even if the e-mail with the key is ever deleted.
• Reinstallation or moving to a new PC: simply sign in with the account, download Office, done.
• You can download it directly from Microsoft via your account at any time.

You need a Microsoft account for activation. It is free and can be created in a few minutes.

Included programs

• Word 2024 – texts, reports, contracts and mail merges
• Excel 2024 – calculations, analyses, pivot tables and charts
• PowerPoint 2024 – presentations with animations and video export
• Outlook 2024 – e-mail, calendar, contacts and tasks
• OneNote – digital notebooks for projects and meetings
• Access 2024 – your own databases, forms and reports

New in Office 2024

• Excel: dynamic charts that automatically adapt to array formulas, new text functions such as TEXTSPLIT, TEXTBEFORE and TEXTAFTER, and the IMAGE function for inserting pictures directly into cells
• PowerPoint: Cameo embeds your live camera feed in the slide, and the Recording Studio makes video presentations with subtitles easier
• all programs: support for OpenDocument format 1.4, a revised accessibility checker and a design in the style of Windows 11

Account-bound or without an account?

Office 2024 or Microsoft 365?

Microsoft offers Office in two ways today. Microsoft 365 is a subscription: you pay every year and receive new features and cloud storage in OneDrive on an ongoing basis. Office 2024 is a perpetual licence: you pay once, the programs belong permanently to your computer and continue to receive security and quality updates.

For many users the perpetual licence is the more economical choice. If you use Word, Excel and the others every day but do not need cloud features, you save a large part of the subscription costs over the years. The interface also stays the same, which avoids training effort. You can still store your files in OneDrive, Dropbox or on your own server.

Tips for managing the licence in your Microsoft account

It is best to redeem the key with the account you use permanently for work. At account.microsoft.com, under “Services & subscriptions”, you can see at any time which Office licence is linked to the account and start the download from there. Turn on two-step verification so that nobody but you has access to the account and licence.

If you change computers, sign out of Office on the old device and sign in on the new one. Your licence remains fully intact.

Frequently asked questions

Is Access included?

Yes, Access 2024 is included with Professional Plus.

Do I really need a Microsoft account?

Yes. With this edition, the licence is bound to your Microsoft account. If you prefer to activate without an account, choose the edition without the “account-bound” label.

Can I transfer the licence to another account later?

No. Once redeemed, the licence remains permanently linked to the account used. So redeem the key with the account you will use in the long term.

How do I move to a new PC?

Uninstall Office on the old PC, sign in with your Microsoft account on the new PC and download Office again. The licence is recognised automatically.
