Home or Pro?

For most home users, Windows 11 Home is enough. If you want to encrypt hard drives with BitLocker, access the PC via Remote Desktop or run virtual machines, you need Windows 11 Pro. Switching later is possible at any time with a Pro key.

Well prepared for installation

Before a clean installation, back up your documents, pictures, emails and browser bookmarks to an external drive or the cloud. Note down the login details and licence keys of your programs. If possible, download your PC’s network drivers in advance – so you are back online immediately after installation. Depending on the computer, a clean installation takes about 20 to 60 minutes.

Clean installation or upgrade?

If your PC already runs Windows 10 and meets the requirements, you can install Windows 11 directly via Setup and keep your programs and files. On a new or freshly set-up computer, install from a USB stick. Windows 11 is available as a 64-bit version only.

After installation

• Install drivers for graphics, chipset, network and printer from the manufacturer’s website
• Set up virus protection – Microsoft Defender is already active
• Create user accounts and use an account without administrator rights for everyday use
• Set up a regular backup

• Firmware: UEFI with Secure Boot

• Display: HD (720p), at least 9 inches diagonal
• Internet: for setup, activation and updates

Installation and activation

1. Prepare the installation medium: use the download link from our email and create a USB stick (at least 8 GB) or an ISO file.
2. Boot from the USB stick and follow the installation. For an upgrade you can also run Setup directly in Windows.
3. Enter the product key when prompted, or later under “Settings” → “System” → “Activation”.
4. After setup, install drivers and Windows updates.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Microsoft account?

For the initial setup of Windows 11 Home and Pro (personal use), Microsoft requires an internet connection and a Microsoft account. The account is free.

Does Windows 11 run on my PC?

The free “PC Health Check” app from Microsoft tells you. The key factors are TPM 2.0, Secure Boot and a supported processor.

Can I switch from Home to Pro?

Yes. Under “Settings” → “System” → “Activation” you enter the Pro key; Windows is switched to Pro without reinstalling, and programs and files are kept.

Is Windows 11 Home available without Media Player?

Yes, as Windows 11 Home N for the European market.

How is Windows activated?

Will I receive an invoice?

In which language is Windows installed?

You can install Windows in English or in another language of your choice. You select the language when creating the installation medium.
