For normal office PCs, Windows 11 Pro is enough. Pro for Workstations plays to its strengths when more than two processors, very large amounts of memory or fast network storage are involved.

Well prepared for installation

Before a clean installation, back up your documents, pictures, emails and browser bookmarks to an external drive or the cloud. Note down the login details and licence keys of your programs. If possible, download your PC’s network drivers in advance – so you are back online immediately after installation. Depending on the computer, a clean installation takes about 20 to 60 minutes.

Clean installation or upgrade?

If your PC already runs Windows 10 and meets the requirements, you can install Windows 11 directly via Setup and keep your programs and files. On a new or freshly set-up computer, install from a USB stick. Windows 11 is available as a 64-bit version only.

After installation

• Install drivers for graphics, chipset, network and printer from the manufacturer’s website
• Set up virus protection – Microsoft Defender is already active
• Create user accounts and use an account without administrator rights for everyday use
• Set up a regular backup

• Processor: 64-bit processor with at least 1 GHz and 2 cores (compatible model according to Microsoft’s list)
• Memory: 4 GB RAM
• Storage: 64 GB of free space
• Firmware: UEFI with Secure Boot
• TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0
• Graphics: DirectX 12 with WDDM 2.0 driver
• Display: HD (720p), at least 9 inches diagonal
• Internet: for setup, activation and updates

Installation and activation

1. Prepare the installation medium: use the download link from our email and create a USB stick (at least 8 GB) or an ISO file.
2. Boot from the USB stick and follow the installation. For an upgrade you can also run Setup directly in Windows.
3. Enter the product key when prompted, or later under “Settings” → “System” → “Activation”.
4. After setup, install drivers and Windows updates.

Frequently asked questions

Difference from Windows 11 Pro?

Pro for Workstations supports up to 4 processors and 6 TB of RAM, ReFS and persistent memory. The other features are the same.

Does Windows 11 run on my PC?

The free “PC Health Check” app from Microsoft tells you. The key factors are TPM 2.0, Secure Boot and a supported processor.

How is Windows activated?

With the product key you receive by email after purchase. Our support team will help with any questions about activation.

Will I receive an invoice?

In which language is Windows installed?

You can install Windows in English or in another language of your choice. You select the language when creating the installation medium.

Is the key suitable for a clean installation?

Yes. With the key supplied and the download link you can reinstall Windows or activate an already installed version of the same edition.
