Who is a standalone program worthwhile for?

A complete Office suite is not always necessary. If you work almost exclusively with Word in everyday life, a standalone program means you only pay for what you really use. File formats and collaboration

By default, Word 2024 saves in DOCX format, which is read by all current Office versions, Word for Mac and most other word processors. You open older DOC files in compatibility mode and can convert them to the new format with one click. For authorities and job applications, export directly as PDF or PDF/A. If you work with LibreOffice users, save in the OpenDocument format ODT, which Word 2024 supports in version 1.4. Comments and tracked changes are retained in all formats, so you can coordinate documents directly with colleagues, editors or customers.
