Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 for Windows – presentations with a perpetual licence
PowerPoint 2013 is the standalone program for presentations, training materials and talks. You receive it as a perpetual licence for one Windows PC, without a subscription.
PowerPoint 2013 brought the improved Presenter View, which makes presenting much more relaxed.
Typical uses
- Customer presentations and quotes
- Presentations and teaching
- training materials
- Notices and screen presentations in the shop window
What PowerPoint 2013 offers
- Improved Presenter View with zoom into parts of a slide
- Eyedropper to pick up colours from pictures
- Alignment guides when placing objects
- New themes with colour variants
- Insert online videos and pictures
Tips for better presentations
- Presenter View: notes and the next slide visible only to you.
- Slide master: set the logo, fonts and colours once.
- Less text: bullet points instead of whole sentences, plus pictures and charts.
- Embed fonts: so that nothing shifts on other computers.
- Print handouts: slides with lines for notes for the audience.
Compatibility
PowerPoint 2013 saves in PPTX format, which all newer PowerPoint versions and PowerPoint for Mac can read. Presentations from newer versions open too; special transitions such as Morph are shown in simplified form. For participants, export a PDF version.
Presenting in the office and in the classroom
In the Presenter View of PowerPoint 2013 you zoom into details of a slide during your talk, and the eyedropper picks up colours from your logo directly into shapes and text. This creates coherent presentations without much effort.
When is PowerPoint 2013 on its own worthwhile?
PowerPoint 2013 as a standalone program is a good fit if a workstation works almost exclusively with PowerPoint – for example for trainers, teachers or in sales. It is also a good addition if other Office programs of the same generation are already installed on a computer and only PowerPoint is missing.
Standalone program or Office suite?
The standalone program is the most affordable solution if you mainly work with PowerPoint. If you need more programs later, an Office suite is usually cheaper than several standalone programs.
| PowerPoint 2013 (this item) | presentations only |
| Office 2013 Home & Student | Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote |
| Office 2013 Home & Business | additionally Outlook |
You will find more editions under Microsoft Office 2013.
PowerPoint 2013 or a newer version?
Version 2013 is lean, runs quickly even on older PCs and has the clear interface on which all newer versions are based. If you want the latest features, choose PowerPoint 2021 or PowerPoint 2024. The file formats have been the same since Office 2007, so files can be exchanged without any problems.
Buy once instead of subscribing
You pay for PowerPoint 2013 once and use it permanently – with no contract term, no notice period and no forced cloud use. You save your files as usual locally, on your network or with a cloud provider of your choice.
