Setting up several Macs

Make a note of which key is used on which Mac. Download the installation package once and copy it to the other devices via USB stick or network drive. After installation, all you need to do on each Mac is start Word and enter the key.

Working with Windows users

Office 2021 for Mac saves in the same formats as Office for Windows. Documents, spreadsheets and presentations can be exchanged without conversion, and comments and tracked changes are preserved. On the Mac the Command key (⌘) usually replaces the Ctrl key; otherwise the ribbon and features are largely the same.

Office 2021 or Office 2024?

Both versions are perpetual licences without a subscription. Office 2021 has been in use for years, is mature and is the common standard in many offices, schools and public authorities. If you work with colleagues or customers who also use Office 2021, you get the same interface and the same features. On top of that, Office 2021 Standard for Mac (1–5 devices) costs less than its successor.

If you want the latest features, such as the new text functions in Excel, choose Office 2024 Standard for Mac. For everyday letters, spreadsheets and presentations, Office 2021 offers everything you need, and files are fully interchangeable between both versions.

You pay for Office 2021 once; the programs stay on your Mac permanently and continue to receive security and quality updates via Microsoft AutoUpdate.
