Office on several company Macs

With a device management system (MDM) such as Jamf or Intune, the installation package can be distributed centrally. Microsoft AutoUpdate then keeps the programs up to date. For several Macs in one order there is Office 2021 Standard for Mac 1–5 devices.

Working with Windows users

Office 2021 for Mac saves in the same formats as Office for Windows. Documents, spreadsheets and presentations can be exchanged without conversion, and comments and tracked changes are preserved. On the Mac the Command key (⌘) usually replaces the Ctrl key; otherwise the ribbon and features are largely the same.

Office 2021 or Office 2024?

Both versions are perpetual licences without a subscription. Office 2021 has been in use for years, is mature and is the common standard in many offices, schools and public authorities. If you work with colleagues or customers who also use Office 2021, you get the same interface and the same features. On top of that, Office 2021 Standard for Mac costs less than its successor.

If you want the latest features, such as the new text functions in Excel, choose Office 2024 Standard for Mac. For everyday letters, spreadsheets and presentations, Office 2021 offers everything you need, and files are fully interchangeable between both versions.

Buy once instead of subscribing

Microsoft 365 costs money every year and in return provides cloud storage and a steady stream of new features. You pay for Office 2021 once; the programs stay on your Mac permanently and continue to receive security and quality updates via Microsoft AutoUpdate. If you don’t need cloud extras and store your files on your own Mac, in iCloud Drive or with a cloud provider of your choice anyway, the perpetual licence saves you a considerable amount over the years.

Installation and activation
