Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024 is the long-term edition of Windows 11. It is based on version 24H2, includes the security features of Windows 11 Enterprise and deliberately omits the Microsoft Store, most apps and semi-annual feature upgrades.

What is Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024?

LTSC stands for “Long-Term Servicing Channel” (formerly LTSB). These editions receive no feature upgrades and stay at the same state for many years. The Microsoft Store, most preinstalled apps and advertising tiles are deliberately missing. This makes LTSC the first choice for computers that are to run unchanged and reliably for a long time: point-of-sale systems, machine controls, medical and laboratory equipment, kiosk PCs or control rooms.

Well prepared for installation

Before a clean installation, back up your documents, pictures, emails and browser bookmarks to an external drive or the cloud. Note down the login details and licence keys of your programs. If possible, download your PC’s network drivers in advance – so you are back online immediately after installation. Depending on the computer, a clean installation takes about 20 to 60 minutes.

Clean installation

You usually install this edition from scratch – from a USB stick or via your deployment solution, for example with a prepared image for many identical devices. Windows 11 is available as a 64-bit version only. Plan the setup so that drivers, applications and policies are applied immediately afterwards.

After installation

• Install drivers for graphics, chipset, network and printer from the manufacturer’s website
• Set up virus protection – Microsoft Defender is already active
• Create user accounts and use an account without administrator rights for everyday use
• Set up a regular backup

No, LTSC does not include a Store and has only a few preinstalled apps. You install programs the classic way using installation files.

How is Windows activated?
